Last updated: January 21, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how anneleenvaes.be (“the Site”) handles personal data. As a resident of Belgium, I am committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. Data Collection & Analytics

I use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) via Google Site Kit to understand how my portfolio is discovered and which projects are most relevant to visitors.
  • Anonymization: Your IP address is anonymized.
  • Purpose: This data is used solely to evaluate the relevance of my showcased projects and the reach of my professional knowledge.
  • No Marketing: I do not use Google Ads for retargeting, even though the technical connection might be present in the background.

2. Embedded Content from Third Parties

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g., videos, images, or posts from TikTok, Instagram, and LinkedIn).
  • Tracking: Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
  • Data Collection: These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, especially if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

3. Security and Performance

To ensure the Site remains secure and functional, I use several technical tools:
  • Wordfence & Akismet: These tools process technical data (like IP addresses) to prevent cyberattacks and spam. This is based on my “Legitimate Interest” to keep my website safe.
  • Hummingbird & WebP Express: These are performance tools that do not collect personal visitor data.

4. Cookies

I use CookieYes to manage your cookie preferences. You can choose to opt-out of non-essential cookies (like Analytics and Embeds) via the cookie banner at any time.

5. Data Retention & Sharing

  • I do not have a contact form or comment section; therefore, I do not store personal names or email addresses on this server.
  • Analytical data in GA4 is automatically deleted after 14 months.
  • I do not sell or share any personal data with third parties.

6. Your Rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or request the deletion of any technical data I might have. For inquiries, please contact me at info@anneleenvaes.be.

7. Supervisory Authority

If you have concerns about how your data is handled, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (APD-GBA): Rue de la Presse 35, 1000 Brussels.
